Why Organic Fabrics?

Organic fabrics are made from materials that are raised or grown without the use of chemicals in the form of pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals. We make sure that our supplier’s cultivation procedures, fabric manufacturing process are environmentally responsible and truly in compliance with international organic standards.

Pesticide Facts for conventional cotton farming

¨ 25% of the world’s insecticides are used to grow conventional cotton

¨ 10% of the world’s pesticides are used to grow conventional cotton and cotton is one of the most pesticide dependent crops in the US

¨ 8,000 chemicals are used to turn raw material into bedding, towels, garments, and other items that we buy every day

¨ It takes over 1.5 pounds of chemicals to make a conventional sheet set and approximately 2/3 of a pound of chemicals to make just one shower curtain

¨ Each year, 20,000 deaths occur in developing countries from poisoning by agricultural pesticides used on crops, of which many, due to their toxicity.

Environmental Advantages of Hemp

Hemp is an extremely fast growing crop, producing more fiber yield per acre than any other source. Hemp can produce 250% more fiber than cotton and 600% more fiber than flax using the same amount of land. The amount of land needed for obtaining equal yields of fiber place hemp at an advantage over other fibers.
